First taste of Fall

This weekend was absolutely perfect for some gallivanting around town. Hubby and I had a date at our local Bahama Breeze because we had a few gift cards to spend (I love free food). We're not big fans of chain [seafood] restaurants, mainly because most likely the seafood isn't fresh. But we were both alone and away from home so a little escape to some live island music, palm trees, and yummy food was more than enough.

Chris ordered this deeeelicious Bahamian Grilled Chicken Kabobs. For some out of this world reason, whatever he orders always tastes better. Yes, I did help myself to a few bites.

This was my entrees. Coconut shrimps & tomato basil flat bread with a strawberry daiquiri.  I like having appetizers as entrees. Makes me feel fancy. It did not disappoint, especially with the daiquiri. ;)

I loved my flat bread so much that I recreated for dinner tonight. It took about 5 mins and it did not fail my cravings. Every little bit of my taste buds was dancing.

Sunday was our family day. We attended church and a meeting then we explored a very small and local farmers market. I love small businesses. The kinds that greet you by your first name and genuinely care about your well being.

What the heck is manchego cheese and why does it cost $15.99/lb?? No intentions of finding out but BOGO free nut breads?  I was over that nut.

September is all about the apples and I want to make apple sauce, apple pie, apple pudding so we were checking out all they had to offer. This baby was huge.

I love the designs of the market. Very random.

Makes me want to start gardening...

Green Bean Chips? Where have they been all my life?!?! Give me some of that!

Of course, wherever you can find green beans (and broccoli) you can find Caleb munching on it.

We left with a few fresh produce and the boys had fun munching on food that they didn't pay for so they ran next door for some frozen yogurt.

Do you ever munch of food while grocery shopping? I do all the time, especially with grapes. Please don't tell. That was our weekend. I love weekends like this.

Hard day of work

We are trying to hang on to Summer for as long as we can. Well, maybe just me.  I live for Summer weather and I'm a little sad to bid it adieu . So on this particular day, as my husband was cleaning the yard and washing his car, Caleb wanted to do his part and help. I wanted to do my part and capture the work that was done because who am I kidding? Cleaning is so not my forte.

Caleb has officially mastered the art of posing. I take all credits. I am a photo nazi when it comes to my son, friends, strangers, trees, the mailbox, etc... Enjoy!

We have been neglecting this little cozy coupe since we got him a wagon (story on that bad boy later) so it needed a good wash. Glad Caleb volunteered because my definition of cleaning anything is power washing it.

The license plate is the most important part.

5 mins later?
Moving on to fixing Daddy's wheel.

Now fixing Daddy's car door.

 More posing.

He declared he was the champ of the day. He did work hard for like.. 15 mins. For a 2 year old, the reward should have been for him to be King for the day.

Best $9 ever!

I didn't think it was possible but I just found my favorite shirt dress ever... for $9 from Madewell. I'm all smiles.
It is very flattering and accentuates all my curves.

$12 bubble necklace.

I love great finds like these. This necklace is gorgeous and so versatile! Plus the it being $12 rocks my socks even more. I love how it takes up my "uniform" i.e. shorts and a cute top up a notch.

Folly Beach

We took a trip to Folly Beach recently for a mini family vacation. We have been extremely busy and I completely overlooked the fact that the 3 of us have not been a vacation together this year. We have been on tons of trips this year but either it was just me and Caleb or we were joined by friends and family. My sweet husband craved some good ol' time with just us at a new location so he planned a trip for us to be together at the beach. He speaks my love language so well!!

It wasn't our usual beach but it just as grand! God didn't have to, but He did. He gave us a PERFECT day at the beach.

How perfect? The weather was AMAZING. It was mid August and not an ounce of humidity! The sand was hard so our little man could walk on sand and played! We spent the day just lounging, napping, and playing on the beach.

He even ventured our further than we thought he would! Oh, the power of a $4.99 bucket and shovel!

There are many many many reasons why I adore this man but the best reason for that day is how much he invests in playing with Caleb! Caleb loves looking at the beach but he does not desire to go in it so it was Chris's mission to get him to love the beach... After all, we are at the beach about 5 times a year. He should be like flipper right now..

Here's a picture of us. That remote for our camera has been my bff.

Caleb did not care too much taking pictures near the water so he did some more digging. We brought more seashells home.

Here we are at the park in downtown Charleston, SC for a sweet family picture.

This is how they bond. =)

I'm so glad we took this trip. Life is such a crazy thing…and it’s amazing how a weekend away rejuvenates our soul and thirst for quality time. The memories that Caleb will treasure forever. My goal for the rest of the year is to take more mini trips with my boys. Create purposeful memories with our family adventures.
